Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a visa agent?
No we are not a visa agent and we do not submit your application on your behalf or help you with your financial statemnets. We are only able to provide and advise you on the Muay Thai course part of your application.
What does the course price, 15,000 Baht, incude?
The breakdown is: 4,000 Baht admin fee - 11,000 Baht for 6 months Muay Thai lessons.
We create a strict weekly itinerary for you which demonstrates a structured and proffesional course for the Embassy. This structured course can be converted to 26 flexible classes if you prefer more freedom and flexibility.
How long does it take us to prepare your documents?
We take about 6 days to prepare your documents pack and final PDF file. First we create draft documents and invite you to check them over in case of any mistakes. You should not submit the draft documents, they are unsigned and incomplete. Just check them over for mistakes and let us know. Next we send the drafts to the gym owner who prints, signs, stamps and creates the final PDF ready for you to submit to the Thai Embassy or Consulate of your choice.
Can I apply in Thailand?
No the DTV must be applied for outside of the Kingdom of Thailand at a Thai Embassy or Consulate.
Which Embassy / Consulate can I apply?
Some Embassies are very difficult to deal with and have a history of unexplained failiures, unreasonable requests or are very slow. so we no longer support applications there. Japan, Taiwan, Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Washington, Nederlands and France are on our list of not supported embassys.
We reccomend you apply in your home country if possible. If you need to apply in South East Asia we reccomned Jakarta if you have genuine muay Thai experience, Vietnam or Laos. Note: Jakarta currently requires 3 months bank statements and Vietnam and Laos require 6 months. (Sept 2025) Laos will most probably call you in for an interview where they will ask to see your bank app on your phone.
Is class attendance mandatory?
We are not asked to monitor or report attendance to immigration or any other government organisation. You have paid for a course of Muay Thai and we are prepared for your arrival. However, we are able to be flexible and understand that the DTV is a tourist visa and you may wish to explore all of Thailand. Our position is that your registration is valid and we are ready to activate your study whenever you are. We do not expire your course so if you don;t turn up we assume that you will one day in the future.
What is your refund policy?
In the event that your application is declined, we will issue a full refund of the training costs.* To process this refund, we require proof that the visa was not accepted. Please note that if a refund is issued, we cannot provide confirmation of your refunded course to any other embassy you may apply to after your initial application rejection.
* The 15,000 Baht fee is 11,000 baht for training and 4,000 Baht Admin fees.
Do I need to live in Chiang Mai? Do I need an address in Chiang Mai?
As the DTV is a visa that encourages applicants to travel around Thailand as tourists it is perfectly acceptable for you to not currently live in Chiang Mai. Our course is flexible and you can fly in and attend a large block of classes or do a few classes and then move on. However some embassys might ask you for an address in Chiang Mai, which is a reasonable request. Our gym has accommadation that you can book with us. Should your plans change you can cancel your booking without financial penalty.
How Can I pay?
We accept 3 methods of payment. 1. Cash in the gym. 2. Transfer over a QR code for Thai Bank accounts. 3. Secure payment link for international credit / debit cards. Here is the link:https://buy.stripe.com/14k7sJ1p31UPdZmcMY
Do I need a flight booked?
This is one of the things that varies from embassy to embassy and applicant to applicant. Some embassies will require it from everyone, some will request it as further information. This side of the application is not our responsibillity but it has been suggested that there are special flights that can be booked and cancelled without charge. This may be of benefit considering you never know how long the embassy will take.
Can I extend the DTV after 6 months?
In theory yes, but in country immigration make it so difficult it is better and easier to just go out of Thailand and return for a 180 day stamp.
After my 6 month course is over do I need to buy another Muay Thai course?
Currently, September 2025, there is no real need to demonstrate ongoing Muay Thai training. On the odd occasion, when re entering Thailand, the immigration officers have interogated a handful of people but this is not widespread and most people get stamped in without any drama. But for peace of mind and to protect our customers from future more stringent questioning at immigration we have introduced the DTV + Plus scheme. An affordable way to keep your Muay Thai class documented and accredited for the 5 year duration of your DTV. See blog post for more details:
Are there any other application fees?
Yes, the embassy will require an application fee of about 10,000 baht {varies between each emabssy} which is paid directly to the embassy when you apply. So you will need to pay us for the Muay Thai course and the Embassy for the application fee.
How long does the embassy take to process the application?
Each embassy is different and timelines change depending on how busy they are. Some have approved in a few days, some have taken 6 weeks. As an average you should be prepared to wait at least 14 days. Keep in mind Embassies don't work on Thai public holidays too.
Are any nationalitys subject to more scrutiny?
It does seem that from time to time, and usually linked to news events in Thailand, that certain passport holders start getting rejected for no apparent reason. we have noticed this with Israeli, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Chinese and Indian citizens.
Certain African nations are also subject to more stringent vetting.
Can I open a Bank Account in Thailand with a DTV?
Generally no, the DTV is considered a tourist category visa and banks are being very strict on opening accounts for foreigners with tourist type visas. Im sure there have been instances where well connected agents have pulled it of, or where some one with property may have been accepted, but you will not be able to open a bank account with a DTV usually.
What documents do you supply?
Our Muay Thai DTV pack is a time tested package of documnets. we provide an invte letter, receipt, itinary, curriculmn and photos of the gym with map pin. We also supply an "overkill" of compliance certification. We provide: Ltd Company Certificate, DBD Buissness document, Local Municipality health and safety certificates, Owners ID card, Sports Authority of Thailand Gym License, Board of Boxing sport Coaches License, Ministry of Education Instructor Level 1
What Financial statements do I need to present to the embassy?
Financial statements are not our department. Please do your own research about this matter. However we understand that 500,000 Baht (or equivelent in a foreign currency) is needed to apply for the DTV.
Embassys will also want to see 2 - 6 months bank statements. Bank statements need to be in an established national bank, they may or may not accept Wise, Revolut etc but almost all embassys won't accept crypto. Bank statements don't have to be from a Thai bank. What the Embassy actually wants to see in the bank statements is not uniform and generally not published on their website. The goal of the embasssy is to establish that you have enough money to fund a long stay in Thailand. Some will want to see the 500,000 baht balance maintained accross the past bank statements others wont need the balance to be 500,000 baht but they will want to see a helathy balance over how many months they have requesred the statements.
